The Prop Store Of London was founded by collector Stephen Lane in 1998, and has been leading the field for prop and costume collecting ever since. Stephen and his dedicated team of nine full time professionals, who are all “mad about movies”, strive to find the most exciting items from locations all over the world.

With the launch of the Los Angeles facility in 2007, Prop Store has offices in both the UK and the US, enabling us to stay in constant contact with productions and industry personnel on both continents. This allows us to offer the highest possible quality of service to our clients. Phones will be answered in one of our offices 18 out of every 24 hours, and e-mails are addressed around the clock.

Our offices incorporate a working warehouse with a dedicated display gallery where you can view items you are interested in, as well as items that are part of the Prop Store company collection. If you are local or are going to be visiting London or Los Angeles, please contact us
to set up a viewing appointment.

Prop Store works with sources around the globe to bring you a steady supply of exciting new products. We are always interested in purchasing items – please contact us if you have something to sell.

Stephen Lane
Chief Executive Officer

Stephen Lane: The founder of The Prop Store of London, Stephen became interested in movie memorabilia while his previous sign-making company was working as a contractor on the sets of Eyes Wide Shut. Stephen began networking with Industry technicians and found his first few treasures, which led him to pursue Prop Store as a full time business. At that time, no one in the UK was selling this type of memorabilia as a full-time operation. Stephen has been a steady pioneer in the industry, constantly developing and evolving the business and constantly trying fresh initiatives. He has located some of the most significant caches of film memorabilia of the past decade and both his personal and company collections reflect this- they are amongst the finest in the world.

Tim Lawes: Tim was The Prop Store’s first employee, and has been collecting since 1987. He has witnessed amazing changes in the collecting industry over those two decades, both in the way these assets are sold and the prices they achieve. In the early 90s Tim would make regular trips from London to Los Angeles to scout for new material for his own collection, and to trade out material he had sourced in the UK. Tim forged a massive network of collectors during this pre-Internet age when connecting with people interested in a niche market was very difficult. He retains many of these connections today, and they are a constant ace in Prop Store’s hand.

Chief Operations
Officer LA

Brandon Alinger: Brandon worked as a part-time agent for Prop Store throughout 2006, before being brought on to head the US operation in May 2007. Brandon has a background in researching the production of the Star Wars and Indiana Jones films and had established contact and transacted with many key crew members from these productions before joining the Prop Store team. Brandon is educated within film studies to post graduate level and had published numerous articles on film production and movie memorabilia. Over the past two years he has worked to develop the Prop Store’s LA branch to the level of quality that the London office has always been renowned for.

Ian Mutch: Ian brings a different element of knowledge to the Prop Store team as he worked for over 10 years as an armorer and model maker within the UK film industry. As an “insider” amongst the “outsiders”, he brings with him an understanding of filmmaking techniques and procedures that is unique in the memorabilia industry. A keen film fan himself, Ian has also been interested in film memorabilia since the late 1980s and brings to the table a fantastic knowledge of pieces that have circulated previously.
