Auction FAQs

This FAQ covers the most common questions we receive on Prop Store’s auctions. If you have additional questions, please feel free to contact us.

Q: What type of auctions do you offer?

A. Prop Store regularly holds two different types of auctions—timed online auctions, and live auctions. Timed online auctions offer fans and collectors the opportunity to own an original prop or costume that is made available in partnership with the relative studio or production company. Each Prop Store timed online auction will present a collection of material from a single source, such as a recently released film. Bidding for these sales is available online only, and runs for a set duration for each lot—typically seven days. For more details, see the timed online auction FAQ.

Prop Store’s live auctions are multi-consignor sales offering material from a variety of titles. Bidding in the live auction can be done in person, online, via telephone or written absentee bid. All lots in the live auction are sold on a single day during the live sale event. For more details, see the live auction FAQ.

All items sold through Prop Store’s auctions are authenticated and certified with our industry-leading Certificate of Authenticity and its accompanying lifetime guarantee.

Q: How are Prop Store Auctions different to Prop Store’s standard offerings?

A. Prop Store Auctions makes material available through the auction model where prices are determined by bidding activity. This is a separate element of Prop Store, outside of our fixed-price sale offerings. Auction items are not available for direct sale at fixed prices, they are only available via the auction. Prop Store will continue to offer material for sale on the fixed-price model, as seen on our product listing pages such as “New Additions.”
