The Prop Store philosophy is to enjoy and preserve props, costumes, models, and other materials used in the production of film and television. Historically, these items were discarded at the end of production without a second thought.  They were a means to an end, they were just used by-products of the production process. In recent years, more notice has been taken of the historical and cultural significance of film props and costumes.  They are now considered an art form. They are the three-dimensional reality of the two-dimensional medium so many of us have grown to love; Cinema.

The team at The Prop Store of London are all long time collectors of this very niche memorabilia. We have a combined heritage totalling some 70 years. Many hours have been spent seeking out the treasures used on the silver screen and that commitment remains as strong today as it did when we first discovered we could own such incredible things.

So it is understandable that from time to time that some items don’t make it as far as our shop front. All collectors by nature aspire to locate better and better items for their collections; it can be fascinating for us to watch the progression of those we deal with on a regular basis.  We here at the Prop Store are no different, so the items you see here in the “Prop Store collection” are the culmination of many years in the hobby.  This section of the website showcases some of those treasures and also explains a little of what goes into their design and construction.

This page is dedicated to the unsung skilled artisans of the film industry, the guys and girls who make such magical images a reality on the big screen—the stuff that dreams are made of.
