The spacesuit worn by Jolene Blalock as Sub-Commander T’Pol in the most recent of the Star Trek franchises Enterprise. T’Pol was the first Vulcan to serve for any extended period on a human vessel. Her stay on board the Enterprise was 10 years (2151-2161) The former model wore this outfit in the episodes “Damage”, “The Council” and Countdown”. |
| This elaborate costume was designed and constructed by Robert Blackman. It is made from a lightweight copper coloured vinyl with stretch panels in various locations to make it more comfortable. There are a number of silicone dressing pieces applied to give the subtle illusion of a network of pipes and wires. |
The backpack, which is made from a combination of fibre glass and resin, contains a fan and ventilation system that helps keep the wearer cool and the visor free from mist. The helmet also has a quick release mechanism to provide added “relief” and fresh air to the performers when needed. |
| There are a number of lights on the costume. Two powerful halogen bulbs on the side of the helmet and an array of interior helmet lights help complete the illusion of a fully functional self contained life support system. The chest pack, made from the same material as the backpack is dressed with the Enterprise logo and a number of functional buttons and switches. |
