The Rick Baker Collection

The Prop Store of London is pleased to announce that it has secured a unique collection of material from the collection of legendary make-up effects artist Rick Baker.Having been in conversations with Rick about his materials for several years, we were recently able to spend several days working with Rick in the storage of his studio to unearth a collection of items from a range of films including An American Werewolf in London, Gremlins 2: The New Batch, Planet of the Apes, and Men In Black II.

These items will be posted on our website over the coming weeks and months. We have a wide selection of items that will be available at different price points, so we hope to have something for everyone. Some of the material is also available for viewing at Prop Store's Los Angeles office, and a few highlights will also be on display at our display booth at the 2009 San Diego Comic Con. We feel this is some of the most exciting material to come to market in some time, and know that collectors will be excited about the opportunity as well.

Just in case anyone is unfamiliar with Rick Baker (unlikely!), he is a legendary Hollywood make-up effects artist. Baker began experimenting with make-up effects as a child, and later received guidance from Dick Smith. Baker received the first ever Academy Award for Make-Up, on the 1981 film An American Werewolf in London. He has always had a passion for gorillas, and is well known for apes and gorillas he has brought to life in films such as Gorillas in the Mist, Harry and the Hendersons, Mighty Joe Young, and Planet of the Apes. Baker is also well known for creating many of the aliens that populated the Cantina in Star Wars. His most recent project has been The Wolfman starring Benicio del Toro, which will be released on November 6, 2009.
