Top Secret!
'Little Horse' Anamatronic Head
Stock # 4660
The ‘Little Horse’ animatronic head used in the Val Kilmer comedy Top Secret. The head is used in a gag about half way through the film as Nick Rivers and Hillary Flammond, played by Val Kilmer and Lucy Gutteridge, get a lift on a cart pulled by a small white horse. The horse starts to cough, they ask if he is ok and the owner says ‘he caught a cold the other day, he’s just a little hoarse’. The head is comprised of a highly complex animatronic skeleton mechanism made from fibre glass, plastic, metal and rubber complete with eyes, teeth and a moving tongue (an extra tongue is also supplied). The skeleton is covered with faux white horse fur complete with mane and ears (There is some damage to the nose). This complicated head took a team of people months to make and is one of a kind. All the pieces move but it is not in good working order due to it’s age. This amazing piece has been in storage ever since filming and was purchased directly from Stuart Freeborn the creature effects supervisor on the film. Also included are two pre-production sketches drawn by the special effects department, the largest measures 84cm x 71cm (33" x 28") and two black and white original production stills featuring the head. Comes with a letter of authenticity from the crew member. The head measures 122cm (48") in length. Click here to learn more about Stuart Freeborn and his work
