Ancient Spiral Rock Carving 'Star Map' Tablet
Stock # 27120
A small oblong carved tablet used in Ridley Scott’s 2012 sci-fi adventure Prometheus. This style of tablet can be seen in the key briefing scene which is held by Dr Shaw (Noomi Rapace) and Dr Holloway (Logan-Marshall Green) where they explain the origin of the star map, although this particular tablet is not shown suggesting it was a test version.
This heavy carved tablet features the characteristic ‘star map’ as its main pattern, this spiral depiction of the star map is copid across to other tablets which are analysed during this scene of the film. The oblong tablet is made from a hard resin which has been painted and hardened in dark grey stone effect, chipped and shaped to give an aged appearance. It is mounted on top of a green screen pole which was edited out to give the tablet a suspended appearance for the scene in the production. This tablet is in a good, used condition and measures 48cm x 38cm (19” x 15”) including the fixed pole.
