Capt. Leo Davidson Backpack

This is an original prop backpack from the 2001 Tim Burton sci-fi film Planet of the Apes. In the film Capt. Leo Davidson (Mark Wahlberg) swims underwater to retrieve his supply bag from his crashed ship, in order to use the gun and transmitter inside. He carries the supply bag with him throughout the film as he tries to get back to his planet. This particular bag would have been used for scenes where Davidson has the bag strapped over his shoulder.
The white bag features a large flap with snap closure at both top and bottom, as well as three smaller straps on the right side with snaps as well. Attached at the top is a single leather strap with two adjustable buckles. When unsnapped and opened, the bag reveals a square bundle of black fabric attached to the inside of the bag; thus making the backpack look “full” for the production.
The bag has become somewhat dirty from production use and distressing; additionally, the button is no longer present for the top side strap. This backpack measures approximately 15” x 12” (38cm x 31cm) and is in fair, production distressed condition.
