Gladiator
Commodus' German Front Tunic Double
Stock # 23113
A double of Commodus' (Joaquin Phoenix) undertunic worn in Ridley Scott's Oscar winning socks-and-sandles epic Gladiator. The power-hungry son of Julius Caesar (Richard Harris) wore this in the scenes on the German Front early in the movie, when the shots did not require the costume to be seen close up; the time consuming and expensive ornate golden stitching could be bypassed by simply painting the decorative embroidery onto the thick cotton garment. The garment was worn underneath the elaborate blue armour and matching tunic, and mimics the pattern seen on the hero close-up with swirling golden designs drawn around the neck and short sleeves. It is in a great production used condition with some small marks and stains from use on set and no size marked.
