This original piece of artwork is a "comp" created for Star Wars Episode III : Revenge of the Sith by world-famous movie poster artist Drew Struzan, who has created most of the more-endearing film posters of the past three decades. Comp is short for comprehensive, as the art is a comprehensive study of a concept for the film's poster. This is one of several different comps that were created during the process of designing and creating the poster artwork for Revenge of the Sith. The style and composition instantly identify the piece as Drew's work. The art itself is accomplished in pencil and acrylic paint, on a medium-grey heavyweight art paper. It is signed by the artist in the lower right-hand corner, and dated 2005.
Drew Struzan is one of the most highly-regarded poster artists of all time, and he has created posters for all six Star Wars films. This is a rare and unique opportunity to own an original piece of Drew Struzan's Star Wars artwork. The final painting for the Revenge of the Sith poster is owned by George Lucas, and hangs outside of his screening room, with Drew's art for the posters of the other Star Wars films. Lucas himself called Drew "the only collectible artist since the second World War."
This exact comp is published in the 2010 book The Art of Drew Struzan.
The art measures 14 x 22", and the heavyweight art paper measures 22" x 30".
