Conan The Barbarian (1982)
Original John Bloomfield Wizard Pencil Costume Design

An original costume design from the Arnold Schwarzenegger classic Conan The Barbarian. This incredibly detailed hand illustrated piece depicts designer John Bloomfield’s vision for the Wizard (Mako), the narrator and later companion to Conan, and has been entirely drawn by hand in pencil. The character is depicted sitting down wrapped with his giant robe, rope waist ties and dagger. It has been labelled in pencil “The Wizard 1” in reference to this being the first of perhaps several designs. There are several rough sketches in the corners and has been covered in a clear sheet of acetate taped to the page to ensure the large volume of carbon on the drawing is not smudged. This great piece of artwork measures 35cm x 49cm (13.75” x 19.25”) and has been signed in pencil by designer John Bloomfield himself.
