Charlie And The Chocolate Factory

The flying glass elevator sample created for approval during preproduction of the Tim Burton and Johnny Depp family movie Charlie and The Chocolate Factory. The Great Glass Elevator is one of the most memorable moments in the classic Roald Dalh children’s story, and was important that the astonishing contraption that had been visualised in the minds of countless children the world over be done justice. During the design stage of the movie, this giant piece was mocked up and presented to Tim Burton himself to take the time to look over, examine and give his opinions on it – the verdict being that he absolutely loved it in every way!
Burton's positive response meant that the entire elevator set piece was created in exactly the same style as this, though this has the added bonus of being fondled by Tim Burton personally! This prototype has 'rooms' with suitably bizarre labels such as “God Save The Cream”, “Cocoa Beer Bellies” and “Shacka Lacka Room”. Made from clear acrylic, the panel is engraved with each room's name and has a large clear button fixed alongside it, only one of which has since been lost. It measures a massive 141cm x 30cm (55.5” x 12”) and is still in excellent condition with some very minor scuffs and scratches from handling and storage.
This item comes with a Prop Store Certificate of Authenticity.
