Kingdom Of Heaven
Saladin's Army Metal Sword

A sword used in the 2005 Ridley Scott crusade movie Kingdom of Heaven. Members of Saladin’s army can be seen wearing and fighting with this style of sword in the movie over the city of Jerusalem, the ‘kingdom of heaven’. The sword has an aluminium blade with chinks cut into it from the various battle scenes in which it was used. It has a straight rubber handle decorated to look like wood, although some of the paint has flaked off due to its use on set. The scabbard is also made from rubber that has been painted to look like leather with ornate sections of detail made to look like metal, and here also some of the paint has flaked from these sections to reveal black rubber beneath. Also included is a weathered leather belt attachment that would have secured the sword to the members of Saladin’s army. Measures 109cm (43”) long.
