Gladiator
Tigris the Gaul's (Sven Ole-Thorsen) Stunt Sword

An original prop sword used by Tigris of Gaul (Sven Ole-Thorsen) in the Academy Award winning epic Gladiator, directed by Ridley Scott. Tigris was a highly respected veteran Gladiator and competitor of Maximus’ (Russell Crowe) in the film, and Maximus nearly meets his end when Tigrus attacks, assisted by several highly-aggressive Tigers.
Tigrus’ sword was designed specifically for the character by renowned armorer Simon Atherton. While the blade on the sword is the standard Gladius style, the handle is unique to the Tigris character. This particular weapon is a stunt version that was used for the fight sequences in the film, and feature a dense rubber blade with a resin handle. The blade can be removed from the handle so that it can be replaced after suffering heavy abuse on set.
The impressive prop measures 74cm (21.25”) long, and is presented on a custom build display that supports it almost invisibly via a clear acrylic rod and narrow metal bar, and incorporates the movie logo illuminated with ultra-bright LEDs operated via a small push-button. The stand measures 13cm (5”) tall and 12cm (4.75”) deep.
