An Elite Boar Samurai Warrior Costume worn in Carl Rinsch's 2013 adaptation of the classic Japanese legend, 47 Ronin. In the film, a band of 47 warriors set out to avenge the death and dishonor of their master, Lord Asano. Costumes of this style can be seen worn by a large group of Samurai warriors who arrive with Lord Kira (Tadanobu Asano) in preparation for a duel in honor of Shogun Tokugawa Tsunayoshi (Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa).
This costume consists of an ornate kabuto helmet, mempô face mask, furry dô body armor, kote arm guards, haidate thigh armor, large kimono, hakama pants, and tabi boots. The kabuto helmet is styled after a boar and features intricately cut leather around a resin helmet and includes rubber tusks and a leather shikoro neck guard. The mempô is made from flexible rubber and includes an elastic strap to wrap behind the head. The dô body armor is made from leather with authentic fur believed to be from a boar, and includes cords allowing for adjustable sizing.
This costume features minor wear due to production use (see photos), however it remains in overall good worn condition.
