A complete Roman soldier’s costume from the Neil Marshall action film Centurion. Based on the legend of the lost Ninth Legion, the film follows Quintus Dias (Michael Fassbender), a Roman officer caught between the politics of Rome and the rising aggression of King Gorlacon (Ulrich Thomsen) and the rebellious Picts of Scotland.
This style of costume was worn by the Roman soldiers throughout the film as they battle the Picts north of Hadrian’s Wall. The costume is composed of a helmet, a set of body armour (known as ‘lorica segmentata’) made from segments of moulded durable vinyl with leather fastenings, a scarf, a stiff cotton tunic and a pair of cotton trousers. A belt made of rubber and finished to look like leather and brass is worn around the waist. A pair of vinyl bracers and leather strap boots complete the costume.

The armour plating is finished in metallic paints to give the look of worn, field-used steel with plenty of wear from use. The Centurion’s clothing is heavily weathered and worn, with stains and some minor distressing. The bracers feature the insignia of the Ninth Legion – the text “Leg IX” and their regimental Bull emblem – near the hands. One of bracers is marked "Thax Double" internally, indicating use by JJ Feild in the role of Thax in the production.

Distressed for use on the production, the armour and uniform remain in very good production used condition. The boots are marked as a size 11, with no other sizes marked.
