A Collinwood Manor fireplace wolf from the production of Tim Burton’s 2012 vampire comedy Dark Shadows.

Barnabus Collins (Johnny Depp), cursed by a witch to remain a vampire forever and buried deep in the woods, is accidently released over 200 years later. Upon his release he goes back to his family home Collinwood Manor, ingratiates himself with the family living there, and again comes up against the witch who cursed him all those years ago.

This wolf statue was used as part of the mantle above the fireplace, which is the doorway to the secret passage leading to the hidden family treasures, springing to life at the twist of Barnabus' cane.

The wolf is constructed of hollow resin, painted a dark brown/bronze colour to resemble metal, with engraved fur detailing on its tail, legs, neck and head. The neck and head are slightly moveable as it is constructed of four separate pieces. This structure was fully mechanical for filming, however at the end of filming the mechanics were removed and this and others were gifted to the heads of departments. This amazing piece has been stood on a wooden plinth and shows some minor wear from production but remains in otherwise excellent condition.
