The set pass of director Tim Burton for his 1994 comedy biopic Ed Wood. The film, a bioic about the “worst director of all time” Ed Wood (Johnny Depp), tells the story of Wood’s personal and professional struggles being accepted in Hollywood, his friendship with Bela Lugosi (Martin Landau) and his film making woes, culminating in the creation of his cult B-movie Plan 9 From Outer Space.
The pass is made of card and laminated in clear plastic. The title “Ed Wood” is written at the top with artwork showing Dr Tom Mason (Ned Bellamy), the stand-in for Lugosi in Plan 9 From Outer Space. The bottom of the pass features the text “Hello, my name is Tim Burton” and the ID number 001 in the bottom right corner. A ball-link chain, used to wear the pass while on set, is attached to the top left corner.

Well used on the production, the pass remains in very good condition and is presented in a custom-made opening display featuring a press still from the film, a laser-cut mount board featuring the film’s title artwork and an opening front panel allowing direct access to the piece.
