A Multistage Electrical Railgun from Neill Blomkamp’s 2013 dystopian thriller, Elysium. In the distant future, Earth has become an overpopulated wasteland for the poor, while the wealthy live above in a utopian space station known as Elysium. When a factory worker named Max Da Costa (Matt Damon) is exposed to a lethal dose of radiation on Earth, he embarks on a dangerous mission to infiltrate Elysium in order to obtain a cure before it's too late. Rail guns of this style can be seen used by droids during combat, and stored in an armory on Elysium.
Designed and constructed by Weta Workshop, this futuristic firearm is made primarily from resin, and features a long slender body that has been decorated with numerous engravings and sticker logos. Screwed into the top of the weapon is an accessory rail in which a side grip has been installed. Also included is a futuristic tracking scope that can be easily attached and removed to the rail. The scope features "Pescado Target Aquisition and Kill Systems" painted onto the primary unit.
This item features minor wear from production use, particularly around the top mounted rail which is not securely attached (see photos), however this piece remains in otherwise very good used condition.
