A mechanical arm used in the production of the 2007 Marvel action film Ghost Rider. Selling his soul to help cure his father of cancer, stunt man Johnny Blaze (Nicholas Cage) has his debt cashed in by the devil Mephistopheles (Peter Fonda), turning Blaze into the demonic Ghost Rider so that he can stop his son Blackheart (Wes Bentley) from taking over the world.
This arm was used in the close up shots of the Ghost Rider’s hands, with flame effects added through the use of visual effects. The arm utilises a sophisticated puppetry mechanism with various wires that control tiny individual movements in the wrist and fingers. On set the wires would have been attached to a control box with levers to control each wire and its relevant movement. From about half way down the arm it is covered in white latex which has been finished to look like a real skeleton. The other end is exposed metal with a rubber grip so the SFX crew could manoeuvre the arm as single piece while another member manipulated the hand’s actions. Covering the arm is a leather sleeve which has been made to look like the Rider's jacket.

Displaying some minor wear to the paint finish and sleeve from use, the arm remains in very good production-used condition.
