A set of Female Chariot Archer Armor from Ridley Scott's 2000 historical epic, Gladiator. In the film, Roman General Maximus Decimus Meridius (Russel Crowe) is betrayed by Commodus (Joaquin Phoenix ) who slaughters the emperor Marcus Aurelius (Richard Harris) and Maximus' family upon learning that he will not receive the crown. Presumed dead, Maximus returns to Rome as a gladiator in order to seek revenge against the self appointed emperor, Commodus.
This armor can be seen worn by a female archer riding a chariot during a battle at the Colosseum, in which Maximus and his fellow gladiators are pitted against Legionaries in a reenactment of the Battle of Zama. Worn by stuntwoman Jane Omorogbe, this armor consists of a female breastplate along with two golden colored greaves. The breastplate, which features two breasts on the front, is made from foam rubber with leather shoulder straps and a pair of adjustable straps on either side of the waist. The interior of the armor, which has not been painted bronze, features the name "Jane" written in black ink.
Also included are a pair of greaves which are made from resin with a foam lined interior. The greaves secure to the actors leg with a long leather cord that is connected to the shin armor by four metal rings. This piece has also been labeled with black marker, reading "right ladies" and "left ladies."
The breastplate measures approximately 16" x 19" x 9" (41cm x 48cm x 23cm) while the greaves each measure 6" x 21" x 5" (15cm x 53cm x 13cm). Both items feature wear to the paint due to production use. The breastplate also features a few breaks in the foam rubber located the the shoulders (see photos). This costume remains in otherwise good condition.
