An arena helmet used in Ridley Scott’s Academy Award winning epic Gladiator. Betrayed by his Emperor’s son Commodus (Joaquin Phoenix) and sold into slavery, Roman general Maximus (Russell Crowe) finds his calling in the arena as a gladiator. But when a festival of games begins in Commodus’ honour, Maximus returns to Rome with thoughts of revenge for his lost Emperor and family.
This helmet was used for the famous Battle of Carthage scene as Maximus rallies the disparate gladiators together to take a stand against the charioteers and overcome the odds for a glorious victory. Made from fibreglass with a resin spike on the top this very impressive prop has real chain mail to protect the neck and a leather tab running across the nose. Of note are the two highly identifiable ‘holders’ intended to hold feather plumes, which identify this style of helmet as that being worn by one of only two of the Gladiators in the battle.

Displaying some light wear from use and time spent in storage, the helmet remains in very good production-used condition.
