An unfinished surcoat of 6 Year-Old PuYi (Tijger Tsou) in Jeremy Thomas' 1987 Oscar-winning drama The Last Emperor. This was created for the young Emperor of China during his early years accompanied by his brother, but sadly never finished. It is made from dark blue silk with a pale blue silk satin lining, with a label inside that reads “6 Yrs Old Surcoat” written in pen. There are five button loops but no buttons were ever added, with splits at the backs and sides for a flowing effect. It remains in excellent condition and comes from the private collection of renowned producer Jeremy Thomas (who single handedly raised the $25million budget for the movie) and was archived after filming completed until only recently, when the Prop Store was proud to assist in sorting and cataloguing the incredible inventory under the guidance and in collaboration with Oscar-winning Costume Designer, Jim Acheson.
