Dr. Newton Geiszler’s (Charlie Day) Costume from Guillermo Del Toro’s 2013 mega monster movie Pacific Rim. In the film, a race of monsters, called ‘Kaiju,’ terrorizes earth, forcing mankind to build a team of massive robots, called ‘Jaegers,’ to battle the monsters and save the world. The world’s foremost expert on Kaiju, Newt’s fascination leads to an understanding of the monsters’ weakness. This costume features pieces in various stages of distress that Newt encounters throughout the film.

The costume includes a button down shirt, leather jacket and pants. The slim fit white shirt has been dirtied and bloodied by production to show the events of Newt’s day. A tag inside is inscribed “After Fall”, referring to the scene the where Newt falls to the ground in the bunker while under attack. The blood stain on the shirt has been screen matched to the shirt worn by Day when standing with Hannibal Chau (Ron Perlman) in front of the fallen Kaiju.

The black leather jacket has been purposefully distressed by production to appear battered and damaged, though it features no tag to indicate which stage of distress the piece is in. The corduroy pants also appear dirtied and feature a small tear on the left knee. The waist band is coated with plastic to cling to the shirt and keep the pants up during action scenes. Though all pieces feature wear from production, they remain in good condition.
