A Dr. Newton Geiszler (Charlie Day) Drift Lot from Guillermo Del Toro’s 2013 mega monster movie Pacific Rim. In the film, a race of monsters, called ‘Kaiju,’ terrorize earth, so humans build a team of massive robots, called ‘Jaegers,’ to battle the monsters and save the world. In the film, Newt "drifts" with the brain piece of a Kaiju. The “drift” causes a series of flashbacks, all with muted color tones. These pieces were used for Newt’s flashbacks in which he is seen as a young boy fishing with his dad, and as a young man teaching in a laboratory.

The lot consists of a fishing reel, a voice recorder, two thick spiral notebooks, a clip board, three pencils and a marker. All of the pieces have been painted grey to match the aesthetic of the “drift” sequence, except for the reel which already has a gray and silver hue. The notebooks and clip board were used by background actors in the sequence and feature various drawing and notes made idly during filming. These pieces show some wear due to production use and storage but are in overall good condition. The lot’s notebook measures 11” x 10” x 1” (28 cm x 25 cm x 3 cm).
