Dr. Newton Geiszler’s (Charlie Day) End Costume from Guillermo Del Toro’s 2013 mega monster movie Pacific Rim. In the film, a race of monsters, called ‘Kaiju,’ terrorizes earth, forcing mankind to build a team of massive robots, called ‘Jaegers,’ to battle the monsters and save the world. The world’s foremost expert on Kaiju, Newt’s fascination leads to an understanding of the monsters’ weakness. Elements of this costume were made for use towards the end of the film after Newt had experienced the menacing Kaiju first hand.

The costume includes a button down shirt, tie, leather jacket and pants. The slim fit white shirt has been dirtied and bloodied by production to show the events of Newt day. A tag inside is inscribed “Last Stage”, referring to the fact that this shirt was meant to be worn in the final scenes of the film. The blood stains on the shirt have also been screen matched to the shirt worn by Day in his final scene of the film, after Raleigh had been rescued.

The black leather jacket has been purposefully distressed by production to appear battered and damaged. Most notably, the right shoulder is torn and the jacket is still caked with dirt residue. The skinny tie has been distressed and shows small rips and tears in the fabric. The corduroy pants also appear dirtied and torn after Newt’s frantic crawl. The waist band is coated with plastic to cling to the shirt and keep the pants up during action scenes. The pants include a production tag labelling them as “Stunt, Last Stage”. Though all pieces feature wear from production they remain in good condition.
