A Captain Merrit (John Pingue) Costume from Guillermo Del Toro’s 2013 mega monster movie Pacific Rim. In the film, a race of monsters, called ‘Kaiju,’ terrorizes earth, forcing mankind to build a team of massive robots, called ‘Jaegers,’ to battle the monsters and save the world. The captain and his crew are saved by such a Jaeger in the film’s opening sequence.

This costume consists of a tank top, flannel shirt, weather proof overalls, a rain coat and cap. The tank top (size extra extra large) and flannel are both distressed by production to appear well worn. The work “Merrit” is written faintly in black ink on the inside of the flannel. The overalls are made of a thick, water resistant material and have been coated in a waterproof yellow/orange substance. These pants are heavily distressed with black and red stains and labeled as “Merrit Double” on the inside. The jacket is made of a similar material and is even more distress. The jacket is labeled twice as a Merrit double piece and once for “Joe”. The red and black hat is equally as distressed as the rest and features a tag that is now illegible thanks to water staining. All pieces feature wear but remain in good condition.
