A Scavenger (Henry Chau) Costume Lot from Guillermo Del Toro’s 2013 mega monster movie Pacific Rim. In the film, a race of monsters known as ‘Kaiju’ terrorizes earth, forcing mankind to build a team of massive robots, called ‘Jaegers,’ to battle the monsters and save the world. Costumes of this style are worn by Hannibal Chau’s black market scavengers who collect the remains of a dead Kaiju in Hong Kong. This lot includes a woven beanie cap, goggles, fabric face mask, flannel shirt, tattered shorts, fabric leg wraps, Converse tennis shoes, and a basket of Kaiju meat.

The scavenger’s shirt is made from a brown flannel material with the number “14” spray painted onto the left breast. Across the right shoulder is a crudely stitched patch. Worn on the legs are a pair of brown Levi Strauss shorts which are made from 100% cotton. The shorts display a large patch across the right thigh, and have been heavily distressed, like the shirt, with multiple abrasions and holes in the fabric. Worn around the feet are a pair of size 8½ Converse sneakers that have been heavily stained in Kaiju blood, which is actually made from blue paint. Wound around the legs are a set of fabric bandages that are light brown in color. This scavenger’s accessories include a woven beanie with Kaiju blood stains, a pair of protective goggles with an adjustable rubber sizing strap, a fabric face mask that ties behind the head with fabric cords, and a wicker basket containing wrapped Kaiju meat bearing the red emblem of Hannibal Chau’s operation. The basket shows ropes and straps wound around it, giving it an improvised appearance.

This lot has been production distressed to appear tattered from years of wear and is heavily splattered in blue paint to imitate Kaiju blood, however it remains in good worn condition.
