Welding Pack Parts from Guillermo Del Toro’s 2013 mega monster movie Pacific Rim. In the film, a race of monsters, called ‘Kaiju,’ terrorize earth, so humans build a team of massive robots, called ‘Jaegers,’ to battle the monsters and save the world. Near the beginning of the film, Raleigh can be seen using a welding pack as he helps build the Anti-Kaiju Wall in Alaska. These were spare pieces created for the production but not ultimately used.

The pack pieces are made of plastic, resin, wood, and nylon. The materials have been sculpted to form a wood box with two faux tanks made of plastic and painted red. A grate made of PVC pipe painted yellow and black is meant to protect the tanks. There is also a spool of grey nylon rope, and a welding gun with trigger and hook attached to the back. Three hooks, four wood circles, a stopper, and metal tube complete the lot. The pack pieces feature some wear due to production use and storage but remains in great condition. This piece measures 16” x 8” x 8” (41 cm x 20 cm x 20 cm).
