Gabriel Martin's (Heath Ledger) Costume worn in Roland Emmerich's 2000 period drama, The Patriot. In the film, a peaceful farmer named Benjamin (Mel Gibson) leads the Colonial militia against the British when a ruthless officer murders his son. This costume was worn in numerous scenes throughout the film.
Made primarily from wool, this costume was custom made for Heath Ledger and includes his coat, waistcoat, and breeches. Both coats are made from the same wool material and include metal buttons along the front, and at the cuffs. Both coats include two sets of pockets located at the hips. Worn around the waist are a pair of breeches that include a button up flap at the crotch and a buckle around the calves. All three garments include production labels stitched onto the interior of each piece.
This costume shows some wear from production use and storage, and is missing two buttons near the top of the waistcoat, along with a tightening cord on the back side of the breeches. Aside from the noted wear, this costume remains in overall very good condition.
