Prop Store is proud to present an exclusive offering of ‘The Pirates! In An Adventure With Scientists’ stop motion puppets, props and set pieces from Aardman and Sony Pictures Animation.

A hot air balloon basket with bike and compass from the pirate refuge of Blood Island, used for the scenes in which a downhearted Pirate Captain (Hugh Grant) and Charles Darwin (David Tennant) head out in search of the lost Dodo “Polly”. The basket is made of resin with a metal frame and a large cloth and resin propeller at the rear. Cloth ballast sandbags are mounted around the sides of the balloon basket. A bicycle and compass are made of resin and plastic. The basket is made to replicate the appearance of worked wood with metallic gunmetal, brown leather and white canvas paint finish for the detailing components. The paint finish on the piece remains in very good condition with minimal additional wear from use and time spent in storage.

With a rag-tag crew at his side and seemingly blind to the impossible odds stacked against him, the Captain has one dream: to beat his bitter to the much coveted Pirate Of The Year Award. It's a quest that takes our heroes from the shores of exotic Blood Island to the foggy streets of Victorian London. Along the way they do battle with the pirate-hating Queen Victoria and team up with a young Charles Darwin, but never lose sight of what a pirate loves best: adventure!
