Prop Store is proud to present an exclusive offering of ‘The Pirates! In An Adventure With Scientists’ stop motion puppets, props and set pieces from Aardman and Sony Pictures Animation.

We see the Pirate Captain in his rather fetching nightshirt and cap whilst he and his crew stay with Charles Darwin during their visit to London! Darwin convinces the Captain to present Polly to the Royal Society to be in with a chance of winning ‘untold riches’ – little do we know that Charles Darwin in fact has rather more sinister plans for poor Polly! This puppet was deconstructed after filming and is missing his hands and moustache. His clothing is made from foam latex with pink silicone ‘skin’. Both his nightcap and luxuriant beard are silicone. His head is resin and he features a small amount of plasticine around his eyes to allow for maximum expression. He features a detachable mouthpiece made from ‘Rapid Prototyped’ resin that would have been alternated throughout filming. The Pirate Captain’s entire body has been built around an intricate steel skeleton allowing for him to be posed and animated. He remains in excellent production used condition and including his bespoke display stand, measures approximately 36cm (14”) tall with the stand measuring approximately 13.5x12.5cm (5.25x4.75”) around the base.

In The Pirates! In an Adventure with Scientists, Hugh Grant stars in his first animated role as the luxuriantly bearded Pirate Captain – a boundlessly enthusiastic, if somewhat less-than-successful, terror of the High Seas. With a rag-tag crew at his side and seemingly blind to the impossible odds stacked against him, the Captain has one dream: to beat his bitter to the much coveted Pirate Of The Year Award. It's a quest that takes our heroes from the shores of exotic Blood Island to the foggy streets of Victorian London. Along the way they do battle with the pirate-hating Queen Victoria and team up with a young Charles Darwin, but never lose sight of what a pirate loves best: adventure!
