A baseball bat used in the M. Night Shyamalan sci-fi thriller Signs. After a series of crop circles start emerging on the Hess family farm, Graham (Mel Gibson), his brother Merrill (Joaquin Phoenix) and their family find themselves besieged by someone – or something – not of this earth.
This bat was used in the climatic final scenes of the movie when the late Colleen Hess’ (Patricia Kalember) final words become clear, telling Merrill to “swing away” at the invading Aliens. This particular version is a close match to the bat that sat on the wall during the moment of realisation, but due to the angle of the shot it is not possible to positively identify the grain of the wood to that seen on screen.

The ‘Powerized 128 Louisville Slugger’ bat has been heat stamped with the company logo and Merrill Hess’ name at the top, with distinctive wood graining standing out along the length. The bat remains in an excellent production-used condition with minimal additional wear from use and time spent in storage, and measures 87cm (34.25”) in length.
