A laser rifle shroud from the production of Stuart Gordon’s 1996 sci-fi adventure Space Truckers.

This rifle shroud and others like it were used to create the live-fire weapons used by the mercenary forces seen at the start of the film as E.J. Saggs (Shane Rimmer) and Dr Nabel (Charles Dance) perform their test of the cyborg killing machines. Originally intended to contain a Calico submachine gun, the rifle shroud is made in two parts, using fibreglass with a machined aluminium muzzle. The piece is finished in metallic blue and black with an array of decals both sides. A switch on the left-hand side of the weapon would have been used to activate the laser unit that would have been positioned above the barrel. Wiring is still present within, however the laser unit was removed after filming.

Displaying some wear from use and time spent in storage including small cracks and chips in the fibreglass, the shroud remains in overall good condition.
