A piece of concept art used in the creation of the "Ghost Train" for the 1995 erotic sci-fi horror Species. A message from outer space gives humanity the code needed to create a human-alien hybrid. But when their creation, Sil (Natasha Henstridge), reaches puberty, the docile human turns into a sex-driven beast looking for one thing â€“ to reproduce.
Acquired from the collection of visual effects guru Richard Edlund, this piece of artwork â€“ an original design by the late H.R. Giger â€“ was used in the visualisation of the "Ghost Train" seen in the dreams of the young Sil as she travels cross-country by train.

This production copy, printed in black and white on white paper, features an image of the monstrous train that is seen in the dream. The steam locomotive has a head with a massive mouth at the front behind a large grille, reminiscent of the classic xenomorph creation made famous by Giger in the Alien films. Alongside the train is the text "Species 1:10 No.142 Giger Ghost Train, Copyright 1994 H.R. Giger."

Displaying some wear and folds from its time in use on the 1994 production, the piece remains in good production-used condition, measuring 65cm x 53cm (25.5" x 21").
