Thing, The

Hand-Drawn Storyboard - Mac Turns Handle

Stock #67131

A storyboard used in the production of John Carpenter’s sci-fi horror classic The Thing. When a mysterious alien creature invades an Antarctic research station, helicopter pilot MacReady (Kurt Russell) and the station’s inhabitants battle the creature and their own suspicion as paranoia takes hold.

This hand-drawn artwork was used by the production to visualise the terrifying action on-camera. This particular artwork shows MacReady searching the Antarctic research station. Drawn by storyboard artist Mike Ploog and acquired from the artist’s personal collection, the piece is drawn in pencil on US Legal paper with a printed black border. Ploog’s signature is present at the bottom right of the page, which is hole-punched for storage in a binder. Displaying only minor wear, the piece remains in very good condition.
