Achilles' (Brad Pitt) Retractable SFX Sword from Wolfgang Petersen's 2004 historical epic, Troy. After falling for the beautiful Helen (Diane Kruger), Trojan prince Paris (Orlando Bloom) smuggles her aboard the ship of his brother, Hector (Eric Bana) to take her to Troy. Seeking revenge, the Greek armies led by Agamemnon (Brian Cox) and the legendary warrior Achilles (Brad Pitt) set sail for Troy, where one of history’s greatest wars will be waged.
The sword is constructed of stamped sheet metal and features a resin handle. The entire piece has been hand-painted and detailed to resemble ancient forged bronze. This sword is Achilles' SFX version, which features a special effects spring-loaded retractable tip that would have been used during one of the many fight scenes to give the effect of an actor being stabbed. This item exhibits some wear due to production use and storage with the spring in the blade no longer functioning. The blade can retract and extend, however it currently must be pulled by hand. There are also a few small scrapes and a small crack on the handle. Despite the noted wear, Achilles' sword remains in otherwise excellent condition.
