A costume worn in the Hugh Jackman and Kate Beckinsale movie Van Helsing. Charged with killing Count Dracula (Richard Roxburgh), the Vatican sends vampire hunter Van Helsing (Jackman) and the friar Carl (David Wenham) to kill the demonic vampire and bring peace to the Anna Valerious (Kate Beckinsale) and her family, cursed to purgatory until Dracula is killed.
This costume was worn by Carl as Van Helsing returns to the Vatican to receive his newest orders. The friar loads Van Helsing up with vampire-killing tools only to be told that he, too, would have to come for the journey! Needless to say, he was not thrilled by the prospect of hunting vampires…

The costume consists of a pair of socks, cotton underpants, woollen gloves and a long cotton shirt, over which is worn a habit consisting of a long robe, a tabard and a long hood, all of which are made of a thickly spun wool. A length of rope is used to tie the ensemble together like a belt, while a wool and leather apron –also included - was additionally worn in Carl’s opening scenes. The costume is tied with thick brown cotton laces. The entire costume has been distressed to give it the appearance of a hard-worn monastic garment, with fake dirt and staining liberally applied. A woollen cap, marked for stunt use, and a brown cotton apron are also included.

Well used on the production, the costume is supplied with several costumiers labels and remains in very good production-used condition. No sizes are marked.
